In the Aesthetic movement, 1875 – 1885 , examples from Greek, Japanese, Persian, Moorish, Egyptian and other exotic styles were used in the Antique lights and sconces . Also used were motifs from nature as well as 2-D patterns. Natural forms were simplified, stylized and flattened into patterns, which were often combined. Antique lighting shapes tend to be rectilinear with a sturdy construction.
